A 12-year-old boy accidentally shot a girl of same age live on Facebook in the latest tragedy to hit the social network's video streaming service. The friends were playing with several other youngsters at the boy's home in Santa Rosa de Calchines, a small rural town in Argentina, when the incident took place.

According to Minuto Uno, the boy had found his dad's hunting gun and accidentally shot the girl, named as Georgina Magali Vega, in the face.

The Facebook video showed the group of children laughing and joking as the boy points the weapon.

"If you kill me, I'll kill you," the boy jokes innocently.

A 'clicking' noise is heard several times before suddenly a gunshot goes off. Neighbours heard the shot and rushed to the home.

They called emergency services but paramedics declared the girl dead.

Police are investigating but are treating the shooting as accidental.
