A boy has appeared in court over the alleged murder of a girl, 14, who was r@ped even after he had murdered her. A court heard yesterday that the boy, who cannot be named because he is just 16, killed Viktorija Sokolova and left her in woodland to be found by a passer by.
She died from a blunt force trauma to the head and tests revealed she had been r@ped before her death and after it in West Park, Wolverhampton.
The boy, wearing a blue t-shirt and jeans, spoke at Wolverhampton Crown Court only to enter not guilty pleas to murder, r@pe, and sexually penetrating her body. After the jury was sworn in prosecutor Jonathan Rees told them: ‘There will be DNA evidence in the case, there will also be statements from the victim’s mother and stepfather.’
Adam Cane QC, defending, told the jury: ‘Viktorija Sokolova was originally from Lithuania was attacked in West Park on April 11 and 12 this year.
‘The young man in question is 16-years-old. You will hear evidence from a number of people including her step father and biological mother and her friends.’ Viktorija was previously described by her family as ‘a little angel’ who made lives ‘colourful and full of meaning’.
Prosecutors will open their case today in a trial that is expected to last for at least two weeks.
